What Counts as Data

PSYC 46000 / HUDV 40901

This course will explore what counts as data in the disciplines of psychology, anthropology and linguistics. Each of these disciplines has its own rules and conventions about what can be taken as evidence for or against an hypothesis, including how that evidence is acquired. Our goal will be to explore these rules and conventions with respect to one or two seminal problems that have attracted researchers from all three disciplines.
